Apple and OpenAI will still collaborate to integrate ChatGPT into iOS 18, where it will assist Siri with knowledge-based queries. This deal involves no financial exchange, as Apple sees the exposure of the integration as mutually beneficial. Despite pulling back, Apple remains engaged in the AI space through this strategic partnership.

OpenAI’s $6.5B funding round may close as soon as next week (2 min read)

OpenAI is reportedly set to close its next funding round of around $6.5 billion by next week, as The Wall Street Journal reports. This round coincides with OpenAI’s transition from a nonprofit to a for-profit company, which is expected to happen within two years. Investors can withdraw if the transition is delayed.

Despite recently hitting $4 billion in revenue, OpenAI is still losing billions and facing internal challenges, including a high-pressure work culture and rushed product timelines. California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed two key bills related to autonomous vehicles while signing a third. He rejected AB 2286, which sought to ban autonomous trucks from public roads, and AB 3061, aimed at enhancing data reporting requirements for AV companies.
